Adiantum pedatum

continental : Place The Adiantum pedatum in a semishady place, with few hours a day of direct sunlight.
They can tolerate short slight frosts; in case of intense frost cover the aerial part with frost cloth.

alpine : These plants do not like to be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods.
We suggest to cover the plants with frost cloth in autumn even though they can tolerate slight frosts; place them in the greenhouse if possible.

mediterranean : These plants prefer semishady locations, but can be exposed for few hours to direct sunlight without any problem, above all during the coldest periods of the year.
The Adiantum pedatum can generally tolerate slight frosts without any problem, therefore they can be grown in the garden without any problem.

Fertilization Adiantum pedatum : Houseplants are exposed all year long to a climate favourable for their growth, therefore they do not have an actual rest period, even though the poor insolation in autumn and winter slow their growth. Try to give a liquid fertilizer all year long, dissolved in normal waterings. Increasing the supply of fertilizer in spring, decreasing it during the rest of the year. It is possible to mix with the topsoil in the pot some slow-release granular fertilizer, in two supplies, one at the end of winter and the other one at the end of summer.

continental : Remember to water The Adiantum pedatum only when the soil is dry. During waterings try to dampen deeply the substrate, avoiding to drench it excessively.

alpine : The Adiantum pedatum prefer fresh but not soaked soils, therefore water only when the soil has been dry for few days; providing more frequent waterings in summer and avoid to give water in winter or during the coldest periods of the year.

mediterranean : The Adiantum pedatum needs very regular and generous waterings; give a good amount of water every week from March to October, but remember to allow the soil to dry out between two waterings. During very cold months or particularly rainy periods we can avoid watering.

Treatments Adiantum pedatum : Normally we intervene in case parasites are on the plant; in any case a precautionary treatment against fungal diseases in spring can be useful, applying Bordeaux mixture on the buds before they grow too much.
