Fertilization Aponogeton distachyos : These plants are fertilized when they are replanted, using a slow-release granular fertilizer, to be mixed with the soil in which they are replanted; later on use specific fertilizers, that shall be added to the water of the water garden. Watering Aponogeton distachyoscontinental : These plants prefer dry soils, therefore avoid to water them too often; it can be necessary to intervene more often during summer, in very hot and dry periods. alpine : We suggest occasional waterings; intervene occasionally from April to September, when the soil is completely dry. During the rest of the year avoid watering, or slightly dampen the soil only when it has been very dry for few days, in case the plant is starting to fade. mediterranean : Waterings will be rather poor and less frequent, remember to increase waterings during the hottest periods of the year. The soil can remain dry also for few days before the plant needs new waterings. Treatments Aponogeton distachyos : Normally we intervene in case parasites are on the plant; in any case a precautionary treatment against fungal diseases in spring can be useful, applying Bordeaux mixture on the buds before they grow too much. |
