Athyrium filix-femina - Common ladyfern

continental : These plants do not like direct sunlight, therefore place them in a shady location.

alpine : These plants prefer semishady or shady locations
It is advisable to cover the aerial part of the plant with a frost cloth starting from October until spring, to avoid the exposure to excessive intense frosts.

mediterranean : These plants do not like direct sunlight, therefore place them in a shady location.
These plants are grown in the garden; they tolerate slight frosts.

Fertilize Athyrium filix-femina : It is advisable to use a ripe organic fertilizer, to be buried at the base of the plant at the end of winter and at the end of summer; alternatively we can use a slow-release granular fertilizer.

continental : It is advisable regular, frequent and generous waterings. The Athyrium filix-femina prefers fresh and humid soils. In any case avoid excessive watering and decrease waterings during the cold season.
