continental : Avoid too much sunny locations, preferring semishady places.

alpine : For a balanced growth and in order to avoid leaves sunburns place this plant in a semishady location.

mediterranean : It is suggested to place the Bletilla striata in a semishady location, away from direct sunlight for most part of the day.
These plants do not tolerate temperatures below 10-12°C, therefore grow them in the house most part of the year.

Fertilize Bletilla striata : Fertilize orchids using a specific fertilizer, to be dissolved in normal waterings every 15-20 days. Avoid fertilizings during the rest period and bloom.

continental : These plants shall be watered regularly from March to October, avoiding excessive waterings and remember to allow the soil to dry out well between two waterings. During cold months we can avoid watering.

alpine : Water the Bletilla striata regularly, specially in summer, always allowing the soil to dry out completely between two waterings.

Pests Bletilla striata : If these plants are well grown they are not attacked by fungus or rots; sometimes some cochineals can hide under the leaves: they can be removed manually with a cotton wad soaked in the alcohol or with mineral oil.
