continental : These plants like shady or semishady locations, where they are exposed for few hours a day to direct sunlight.
We can place this plants outside; also in winter they can tolerate very rigid temperatures without any problem.

alpine : Place these plants in a semishady location, where they are exposed to direct sunlight for short periods of time.
These plants can tolerate also very intense frosts without any problem.

Place The Cassiope mertensia in the garden all year long; they do not suffer from cold.

Feed Cassiope mertensia : From March to October fertilize using a fertilizer to be added to normal waterings, every 15-20 days; for your convenience it is also possible to use a slow-release granular fertilizer, to be placed around the plant every 3-4 months.

continental : Waterings shall be regular, but not excessive; allow the soil to dry out well between two waterings. Specially in spring and summer remember to give a good amount of water while watering.

mediterranean : These plants like a fresh and humid soil; give a good amount of water frequently, keeping the ground humid. Remember to increase waterings during hot and dry months and to decrease them in winter.

Adversity Cassiope mertensia : Acidophil plants suffer particularly from ferric chlorosis, that becomes evident from the yellowing of the leaves; to avoid it to appear maintain the soil ph level low, using specific fertilizers and a specific topsoil and avoiding excessively calcareous water; in case of need give ferric chelate. We suggest to apply a Bordeaux mixture treatment and an anti-aphids treatment in spring.
