continental : These plants like shady or semishady locations, where they are exposed for few hours a day to direct sunlight.
We can place this plants outside; also in winter they can tolerate very rigid temperatures without any problem.

alpine : Place these plants in a semishady location, where they are exposed to direct sunlight for short periods of time.
These plants can tolerate also very intense frosts without any problem.

mediterranean : Place these plants in a semishady location, not excessively exposed to direct sunlight.
Place the Cryptomeria japonica in the garden all year long; they do not suffer from cold.

Feed Cryptomeria japonica : Young plants just replanted shall be fertilized regularly, first of all by mixing some universal fertilizer, or some stable manure, with the soil where the plant will be replanted; later on fertilizings are given at the end of winter, using a nitrogen-rich fertilizer, to improve the growth of foliage.

continental : Waterings shall be regular, but not excessive; allow the soil to dry out well between two waterings. Specially in spring and summer remember to give a good amount of water while watering.

mediterranean : These plants like a fresh and humid soil; give a good amount of water frequently, keeping the ground humid. Remember to increase waterings during hot and dry months and to decrease them in winter.

Adversity Cryptomeria japonica : At the end of winter, when the buds are still closed, we can apply a copper and sulphur treatment, to avoid fungal diseases to emerge; during the year apply specific treatments only in case there is the presence of a parasite on the plant.
