Cryptomeria japonica - Japanese cedar

continental : Avoid too much sunny locations, preferring semishady places.
There are not big problems to grow these plants, since they can easily tolerate also very intense frosts.

alpine : For a balanced growth and in order to avoid leaves sunburns place this plant in a semishady location.
They are rustic plants that tolerate frost very well; therefore they can be grown outside all year long.

mediterranean : It is suggested to place the Cryptomeria japonica in a semishady location, away from direct sunlight for most part of the day.
This plant is very rustic and tolerate winter climate without any problem.

Fertilize Cryptomeria japonica : We remind to give a good amount of stable manure or granular fertilizer when replanting, mixing it to the tree planting soil; later on it is advisable once a year usually, at the end of winter.

continental : These plants shall be watered regularly from March to October, avoiding excessive waterings and remember to allow the soil to dry out well between two waterings. During cold months we can avoid watering.

Pests Cryptomeria japonica : We can apply a copper and sulphur treatment at the beginning of the vegetative period, which avoids the emerging of different kinds of fungus; during the rest of the year apply pesticide or fungicide treatments only in case a big amount of parasites is on the plants.
