continental : They prefer locations where they can receive direct sunlight for at least few hours.
These plants do not tolerate temperatures below zero, therefore in winter they are grown in the apartment or in the hothouse.

alpine : It is advisable to place these plants in a very bright location, exposed to direct sunlight.
These plants do not tolerate frosts, not even slight ones; it is advisable to grow them in a sheltered place or in the greenhouse.

mediterranean : Place these plants in a very bright location, possibly exposed to direct sunlight.
We suggest to avoid to expose these plants to winter cold; we can place them in the greenhouse or in a sheltered location, or cover the aerial part with frost cloth.

Fertilization Lobelia splendens : Fertilize our annual plants adding a slow-release granular fertilizer to the planting soil; later on give it regularly every 10-15 days, using a fertilizer to be added to normal waterings.

Watering Lobelia splendens

continental : Remember to water the Lobelia splendens only when the soil is dry. During waterings try to dampen deeply the substrate, avoiding to drench it excessively.

alpine : The Lobelia splendens prefer fresh but not soaked soils, therefore water only when the soil has been dry for few days; providing more frequent waterings in summer and avoid to give water in winter or during the coldest periods of the year.

mediterranean : The Lobelia splendens needs very regular and generous waterings; give a good amount of water every week from March to October, but remember to allow the soil to dry out between two waterings. During very cold months or particularly rainy periods we can avoid watering.

Treatments Lobelia splendens : When spring starts we can apply a sulphur fungicide treatment; the other treatments will be applied only in case the parasites are on the plants. Avoid the use of any treatments on the plants during bloom, which can injure the bees.
