continental : Avoid too much sunny locations, preferring semishady places.
There are not big problems to grow these plants, since they can easily tolerate also very intense frosts.

alpine : For a balanced growth and in order to avoid leaves sunburns place this plant in a semishady location.
They are rustic plants that tolerate frost very well; therefore they can be grown outside all year long.

mediterranean : It is suggested to place the Mahonia x media in a semishady location, away from direct sunlight for most part of the day.
This plant is very rustic and tolerate winter climate without any problem.

Fertilize Mahonia x media : It is advisable to use a ripe organic fertilizer, to be buried at the base of the plant at the end of winter and at the end of summer; alternatively we can use a slow-release granular fertilizer.

continental : These plants shall be watered regularly from March to October, avoiding excessive waterings and remember to allow the soil to dry out well between two waterings. During cold months we can avoid watering.

alpine : Water the Mahonia x media regularly, specially in summer, always allowing the soil to dry out completely between two waterings.

mediterranean : It is advisable to water these plants regularly, using a good amount of water and watering deeply the soil; allow the soil to dry out between two waterings.

Pests Mahonia x media : Treatments are applied only in case the parasites are effectively on the plant and avoiding broad-spectrum products; we remind to avoid to apply treatments on plants in bloom, to avoid to kill also the useful insects, together with the parasites.
