Temperatures Oncidiumcontinental : These plants like shady or semishady locations, where they are exposed for few hours a day to direct sunlight. alpine : Place these plants in a semishady location, where they are exposed to direct sunlight for short periods of time. mediterranean : Place these plants in a semishady location, not excessively exposed to direct sunlight. Feed Oncidium : These plants need regular fertilizings, to be supplied every 15-20 days all year long; suspend fertilizings only during bloom or during a possible rest period. A specific fertilizer shall be used for orchids, alternatively use half portion, compared to the one used for the other plants, of universal fertilizer. Avoid to leave the roots soaked with the fertilizing solution during night hours. Irrigation Oncidiumcontinental : Waterings shall be regular, but not excessive; allow the soil to dry out well between two waterings. Specially in spring and summer remember to give a good amount of water while watering. alpine : These plants are watered regularly during the vegetative period, watering deeply the soil; remember that it is a rule to allow the soil to dry out well between two waterings. During the cold season waterings can be suspended. mediterranean : These plants like a fresh and humid soil; give a good amount of water frequently, keeping the ground humid. Adversity Oncidium : Often these plants are attacked by cochineal or other small insects, that shall be eliminated with specific products, avoiding to wet flowers.
