Fertilization Picea pungens : Usually trees do not need any fertilizer, since their roots are very extended in the soil and therefore they can move to search mineral salts necessary to the plant. Young trees shall be buried after having mixed a ripe organic fertilizer with the soil, or after having added a slow-release granular fertilizer. It can be necessary, during the years, to give some fertilizings, to be given by burying the selected fertilizer at the base of the plant at the end of winter.

continental : It is advisable to water regularly, specially during the hottest months of the year, avoiding to leave the soil dry for very long periods; the Picea pungens like slightly humid substrates all year long.
