This plant is very rustic and tolerate winter climate without any problem.

Fertilize Syringa vulgaris : It is advisable to use a ripe organic fertilizer, to be buried at the base of the plant at the end of winter and at the end of summer; alternatively we can use a slow-release granular fertilizer.
