Typha laxmannii - Broadleaf cattail

continental : Place these plants in a sunny place, where they can be exposed for at least few hours a day to direct sunlight.
There are not big problems to grow these plants, since they can easily tolerate also very intense frosts.

alpine : We remind to place these plants always in a very bright location, exposed to direct sunlight.
They are rustic plants that tolerate frost very well; therefore they can be grown outside all year long.

mediterranean : Try to place the Typha laxmannii in a location well exposed to sunlight all year long.
This plant is very rustic and tolerate winter climate without any problem.

Fertilize Typha laxmannii : It is advisable to use specific fertilizings, during spring and summer; use specific fertilizers to be dissolved in the water of the water garden in which plants are placed. It is also possible to mix a slow-release granular fertilizer with the soil in which the plants sink their roots.

continental : It is advisable regular, frequent and generous waterings. The Typha laxmannii prefers fresh and humid soils. In any case avoid excessive watering and decrease waterings during the cold season.

alpine : These plants like dry and well drawn soil; water regularly during spring and summer, decrease waterings in autumn. In winter we can avoid watering, leaving the soil dry.

mediterranean : Grow the Typha laxmannii in a mostly dry soil, giving not so frequent waterings; but avoid to keep the soil dry for too long periods, intervening every 3-4 days and watering deeply the soil. Waterings can be suspended during the coldest periods of the year.

Pests Typha laxmannii : We can apply a copper and sulphur treatment at the beginning of the vegetative period, which avoids the emerging of different kinds of fungus; during the rest of the year apply pesticide or fungicide treatments only in case a big amount of parasites is on the plants.
